Group therapy
Group Availability
Group availability changes as new groups form and existing ones fill. A group listed as forming is gathering interest and may not have a start date yet. If nothing here fits, let us know anyway — what people ask for shapes what we run next.
Screening & joining
Steps to join a group
Nobody is placed in a group cold. Screening protects the person joining and the people already in the room, and it runs the same way for every group we offer.
Tell us which group interests you
Email the information requested below under “How to inquire about a group” to groups@nscliniciansgroup.com.
Individual consultation
Before joining a group, you’ll meet one-on-one with a clinician. This consultation is a two-way conversation about what you hope to gain from the group, whether a group setting is the right fit for you at this time, and how well the group aligns with your goals.
Clear agreements before your first session
Before the group begins, your clinician will review expectations around confidentiality, attendance, communication between members, and how conflict is addressed. You’ll also discuss the limits of group confidentiality, including the distinction between a clinician’s legal and ethical obligations and each member’s commitment to protect the privacy of others. This will be explained clearly before you decide to participate.
How to inquire about a group
Email as much of the following information as you can to groups@nscliniciansgroup.com.
- Your name, mobile number, and email address
- Your preferred method of contact—phone or email—and the best time to reach you
- The group you’re interested in
- A brief description of what you hope to gain from the group
- Your preferred location: Peabody or North Andover
- Your date of birth
- Whether you plan to use insurance or self-pay; if using insurance, include your carrier and member ID
A note on group minimums. A new group needs at least five people enrolled before it can begin. If you enroll in one that has not reached that number yet, it may be postponed or cancelled — we will let you know roughly one to two weeks before the planned start date whether the minimum has been met.
On paying privately. Some people would rather pay out of pocket than have a mental health claim go through their insurance. That is a common and reasonable choice. When you pay in full yourself, you can ask us not to share information about your care with your health plan, and we are required to honor that. We will also give you aGood Faith Estimate of costs in writing before you begin.
If you are in crisis, don't wait for a reply. Call or text 988, call 911, or go to your nearest emergency room. This inbox is not monitored around the clock.

Over 50 Men's Group
Self-awareness and mindfulness practice for men over 50
A group for men in the second half of life who want to take an honest look at how they got here and what they want the years ahead to be about. Sessions pair straightforward conversation with simple mindfulness practice — learning to notice what you are actually feeling before it comes out sideways. No jargon, no performing, and no expectation that you arrive good at any of it.
Often a fit when:
- You have spent decades being the one who handles things, and it has gotten quiet
- Retirement, a health scare, or grown children have changed what your days are for
- You notice more irritability or more numbness than you used to, and would rather understand it than manage it
- You are curious about mindfulness but not about anything that sounds like a retreat
- One-to-one therapy has never much appealed, but sitting with other men might
